Honest Comparison

FormTs vs Calconic

Side-by-side comparison based on publicly available data. Both tools build embeddable calculators — here's how they differ.

Code vs Drag-and-Drop

FormTs uses TypeScript for unlimited formula complexity. Calconic uses a graphical formula editor with limited conditional logic (no nested IF/ELSEIF).

Submissions vs Impressions

FormTs charges per submission (form completion). Calconic charges per impression (every page load where the calculator appears).

PDF & API Included

FormTs includes PDF generation (free) and API access (Pro). Calconic does not offer native PDF generation or a public API.

Where FormTs Stands Out

TypeScript Formula Engine

Write real code for unlimited formula complexity. Nested IF/ELSE, tiered pricing, multi-variable calculations — no workarounds needed. Calconic's graphical editor doesn't support nested IF/ELSEIF natively.

PDF Generation & API

Generate branded PDF quotes from calculator results (free). Access your forms and data via API (Pro). Calconic offers neither feature.

Submission-Based Billing

You only pay for actual form completions, not page views. Calconic's impression-based billing counts every page load — even if the visitor never interacts with the calculator.

Where Calconic Stands Out

Lower Starting Price

Calconic's Light plan starts at $5/mo, which is significantly cheaper than FormTs Pro at $19/mo. Good for simple calculators with low traffic.

No-Code Graphical Editor

Calconic's drag-and-drop formula builder requires zero coding knowledge. FormTs's TypeScript approach is more powerful but has a steeper learning curve for non-developers.

CSV Data Lookup

Upload CSV files and look up values based on user input — useful for complex pricing matrices. FormTs does not currently offer this feature.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this comparison fair and accurate?

We aim to be transparent. All Calconic data on this page comes from publicly available sources: calconic.com/pricing, Calconic knowledge base, and feature pages, accessed in February 2026. If you spot an inaccuracy, please contact us and we'll correct it.

What are 'impressions' vs 'submissions'?

An impression (Calconic's billing unit) counts every time a page with the embedded calculator loads — even if the visitor never interacts with it. A submission (FormTs's billing unit) only counts when someone actually completes and submits the form. This means high-traffic pages will use Calconic impressions much faster.

Do I need to know TypeScript to use FormTs?

No. FormTs includes an AI assistant that builds calculators from plain English descriptions. You can also start from templates. TypeScript knowledge is only needed if you want to write custom formulas manually, and even then the syntax is straightforward for basic pricing logic.

Which tool is better for simple calculators?

For very simple calculators with basic arithmetic and low traffic, Calconic's lower price point ($5/mo) and drag-and-drop editor may be sufficient. FormTs is the better choice when you need complex pricing logic, PDF output, API access, or submission-based billing.
